5M Miss Munday

Welcome to Class 5M

Welcome to our exciting  class page.  Here you'll be able to find links to work that we do in school and photographs of all the fun we've been having.

This term our exciting topic is
Ancient Greece!

This term our topic is ‘Ancient Greece'!

Have you ever wondered what it was like to be a Spartan warrior or to grow up in the philosophical city of Athens?

Have you been swept away to ancient lands by Greek myths, battling fantastic beasts and dealing with the Gods' trickery?

Well, throughout this term we will be learning about and writing our own Greek myths, exploring both Ancient and Modern Greece, producing tourism leaflets, doing governmental presentations, unpicking the Battle of Marathon and finding out about the early Olympic Games. We will also find time to create some Greek printing designs, sample some Greek food, dress up for a Greek day... and hopefully build a working catapult!

Topic Homework
This term we will be asking you to complete three tasks of your choosing before February half term and another three before the Easter holidays. We've got lots of great activities for you to try! If you lose the homework grid, you can get a copy from the link below.

PE and Games

Our timetabled PE and games days for this term (Spring 2) are a Monday (swimming) and Friday (games).

Please note, it is important that your child has separate indoor PE shoes to help us to look after our hall floor.

R.E.
We will be studying a variety of faiths from different cultures and hope to have visitors to speak to the children.

MyMaths Homework

Each Monday, you will be given MyMaths homework to be completed by the following Monday.

If you are unable to complete your MyMaths at home, you can come along to the MyMaths lunchtime club to ensure that you stay up to date. .

You will find your log on information for 'MyMaths' in your planner.  If you lose it or can't remember it, please come and speak to me and I will find it for you.

High 5
Read at home a minimum of five times per week and get it written in your planner with an adult's signature and you will be awarded a 'High 5.'  Come on 5M, let's go for it!

Times Tables
It's important to get your knowledge of times tables really secure, with instant recall of the facts up to at least 12 x 12. This is because future maths skills build on this knowledge, and without it, you will struggle later on. It's a good idea to keep practising from time to time too, because if you don't use it you might lose it.

Each child has a focus times table to learn for a test on Friday. Make sure you log on to TT Rockstars regularly to fine-tune your skills and improve your speed and recall!
