6J Mr Johnson

Welcome to 6J

We hope you have had a fabulous Easter and you've gone easy on those chocolate eggs. What a busy and exciting Summer term we have in store! A few highlights should include visits to London, Eden Camp and York University, not to mention our traditionally 'jaw dropping' leavers performance before we say goodbye in July. Only the small matter of SAT's to get through in May, but that shouldn't be a problem-you're all working so hard and we really appreciate it!

In the meantime, please remember, 'YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU!' Yes that's right, our summer term topic will transport you back to 1945 and you'll learn how life was like for children in the Second World War. You'll also find out about the countries involved, the leaders and the major decisions they had to take during the war. Life was very different for people during the war and we will find out why it was different and how people were able to adapt to the many challenges of wartime Britain.

What do you think is happening in the picture below and what are the children thinking?

Homework will be set every Thursday and will involve your child completing two Maths activities on My Maths- if you do not have access to the internet at home there are plenty of opportunities to complete it  school;  My Maths club is on Wednesday lunchtime and Homework club is on a Thursday evening.

Literacy homework will be set each term and each child will be asked to complete 3 tasks from the grid before half term, and a further 3 after half term. If you have any queries, please feel free to come and talk to us at the end of the school day.
