Welcome to the Governors page of our website.
The Governors at Carr Junior are a group of volunteers from a variety of backgrounds, all of whom are committed to ensuring that the pupils in this school have the best education and opportunities to become great members of their own community.
We introduce ourselves separately on the who's who page but here we wanted to let you know what we do and how you can contact us if you need to.
And if you are considering becoming a governor, then please get in touch; we would love to talk to you.
Our role as Governors
The school has an active, interested Governing Body. All Governors live locally and represent community interests; many are parents/carers. The commitment of Governors to their increased responsibilities is of great importance to the life of the school.
The Governing Body has a wide range of duties in the management of the school including:
· Agreeing school policy
· Monitoring the budget
· Overseeing the curriculum
· Making appointments and dealing with staff matters
After one year in the role, each of our Governors becomes a member of one of the three sub-committees – finance, pastoral and premises.
These committees look at policies in detail and discuss how they might impact upon the school, its staff and pupils.
A full list of Governing Body members is included. Do please remember that Governors’ responsibilities relate to the management of the school and therefore parents who have any problems regarding their child will need to speak to the class teacher or the Headteacher.
Should you wish to contact a member of the governors please speak to the school office on 01904 798996.
