SMSC and British Values
British Values and SMSC
At Carr Junior School we aim to prepare our children for life in the modern world. We offer a variety of activities to help our children with their spiritual, moral, social and cultural development, embedding the British Values. We aim to provide opportunities for our children to form their own identity; sense of place and purpose, giving them the confidence to question and discover who they are in the world and face the exciting challenges that lie ahead.
British values are embedded in all we do and they are defined as:
- The rule of law
- Individual liberty
- Mutual respect
- Tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs
What is SMSC?
SMSC stands for spiritual, moral, social and cultural development. It is at the heart of our school and encompasses personal development across the whole curriculum. As our pupils grow as individuals and progress through school we are committed to ensure that they achieve, not just academically, but also spiritually, morally, culturally and socially, in order to be prepared for life in the modern world.
