We encourage all of our children to aim high and set them aspirational targets at the start of each year. This may be at our termly open evenings, for our Launch or Landing events for our Big Ideas, awards being given out during our VIP Learners assemblies or us posting pictures of children on our Twitter page.

This year we have introduced ‘Tremendous Tuesday’ which gives each year group in turn the opportunity to choose a broader range of activities from Forest Schools to Cookery Club and Games Club to Film Club. We hope to capture their interests and help them to develop new ones. We have also included topical issues in our Big Ideas such as climate change in ‘Fragile Earth’ and inequality in ‘Heroes and Villains’. Our PSHCE curriculum is aimed at developing the whole child and we have ensured that children are aware of taking care of their mental health and well-being and taking care of others through our ‘Carr Cares’ initiative.

Hi I just want to say how amazing it was last night at the young voices performance in Sheffield. All the children sang, danced and shone their little hearts out and it was so lovely to see .
I really enjoyed it and was so so proud of my daughter .
Just want to thank everyone who made it happen and for giving  the children such a fantastic opportunity They will never forget.
Thanks again.

I just wanted to pass on my huge congratulations to you for your fantastic SATs results. As a fellow Y6 teacher, I fully acknowledge how hard the tests are and how much dedication is required from both pupils and staff. What an achievement to meet or exceed the national percentages, especially considering the social diversity of your pupils.

My Son is only in Y3, but we have been thrilled with how he has progressed and the experiences he has had. Many thanks to the teachers and support staff for all their hard work and enthusiasm over the year.

10th July 2018

Dear each one of you,

Thank you very much for the commitment, enthusiasm and hard work which you, your staff and your pupils all put into the Minster's Choral Outreach project during the past term.

I hugely enjoyed working with you all had great fun too. The pupils were so attentive, polite, friendly and enthusiastic: a real credit to you. I know how much work is involved from you in terms of keeping the pupils focused and ensuring that they knew the repertoire as well as possible before the concert. I must say that in the 11 years of running this project, I have rarely had a school who knew the songs quite as well (and as musically) as your pupils.

The concert was extremely successful, with many in the audience saying that it was the best Outreach concert yet. This would not have been possible without your help and without the receptive interest shown by your pupils. Judging by their faces during the concert, they hugely enjoyed the experience of singing in York Minster.

The schools' solos were also highly praised by many of the audience. It is very nerve-racking standing up in the Minster in front of 1000 and conducting this item. My sincere thanks and congratulations for this.

I like keeping contacts with the schools with which I’ve worked, so if I can ever be of help in any way, please let me know. In the meantime, please thank and congratulate the pupils and all the staff who participated, including the admin teams who were always very welcoming.

Have a great and well-earned summer holiday when it arrives.

Regards

I have not had chance to see K yet as she came home from Whitby and went straight to blue dolphin with her Grandma but she has had the most amazing time, thank you @CarrJuniorYork for helping her make so many lovely memories.

6th July 2018

Thank you for taking good care of all the children, H has a great time in Whitby but he is one very tired boy tonight.

27th June 2018

Just a little email to say a big thank you for enabling the year fives, in particular my daughter to sing at the Minster yesterday. It was truly fantastic.

Mrs Hunton, you were amazing and your commitment to the children to enhance their singing ability was evident. Even those who wouldn’t normally sing or be happy about standing in front of a huge crowd embraced it and lots of teeth, through the smiles were seen.

Proud to be a Carr Junior parent

Thank you – My daughter absolutely loved it!

H
