Our Vision

To ensure our Carr Stars can AIM HIGH, by developing a life-long love of learning and SHINE BRIGHT, by nurturing and celebrating their unique personalities!

World Book Day 2022

Carr Junior celebrated 25 years of World Book day by dressing up as their favourite character from a story, or by wearing their pajamas to celebrate a love of reading at bedtime. The children all looked absolutely fantastic and our Twitter feed was filled with photos of them in their costumes. This year, we joined together with Carr Infants School and the children paired up to read to one another. The delight on their faces really emphasised how reading for pleasure can evoke such happiness. We are already looking forward to celebrating World Book Day again next year.

Maths Day Art Task

The doodle bug

Task: You can doodle, draw, paint, photograph, or even sculpt some artwork based on insects, and hand in to your class teacher so that we can share them in school.

Maths Day

On Friday 7th May, we held a Number Day in aid of the NSPCC.

As part of the day we children came dressed in something number related for a donation towards this worthy cause. All money that was donated for coming in fancy dress will be donated to the NSPCC. Children took part in some number related activities. These included TT Rockstar battles, reading lessons linked to numbers and some real-life maths lessons linked to money. In addition to the work done in school, there was also a family maths challenge.

Choir Singing at York Hospital

It has been wonderful to have such an amazing choir this year.  Choir have worked extremely hard this term to rehearse for two exciting concerts.  On Thursday 13th December, they visited York Hospital to perform a number of songs in the main entrance area to raise money for the York Teaching Hospital Charity.  The singing was superb and many people in the audience commented on how beautifully the children sang. The children managed to raise an amazing £79.90 for the charity!
