The personal development of our pupils is at the heart of everything we do.

Aim High, Shine Bright

Children are nurtured and encouraged to develop attributes such as confidence, resilience and independence as well as an understanding of British values in order that they are fully prepared for life in 21st Century Britain, and indeed, the world.

Equality and diversity are promoted and celebrated throughout school and we are very proud of a curriculum which equips our children with the knowledge, skills and understanding to lead happy, safe and healthy lives whilst enabling them to develop their talents and strive for their goals. Our motto, ‘Aim High, Shine Bright’ is built upon these principles.

Our wider opportunities offer is designed to give pupils a whole host of appropriate experiences.

Inspirational experiences

These wider experiences help our pupils to develop as confident, responsible citizens, to provide rich cultural capital, as well as depth of learning.

High quality activities and experiences are an essential part of school life. They provide opportunities to enrich and deepen children’s learning beyond the curriculum and are an excellent medium to foster good relationships between staff, pupils and parents. They develop children’s social skills by providing a forum of interaction between children across different ages and schools. These opportunities are matched to our staff’s expertise and interests and make the most of the resources we have in school.

At Carr Junior School, all staff and parents prioritise the safety of students at all time.

Safe and sound

Prevention and education are the best methods for keeping students safe. Across our curriculum, we teach our students how to stay safe.

Take a look at this range of pages and links on topics that will help you understand how to keep your child safe, spot danger signs and offer you support and help.

Developing each and every one of our Carr Stars is at the heart of everything we do.

A nurturing environment

We aim to nurture happy, healthy, curious and confident individuals who have the skills they need to face life (and all its challenges) head on. Our Carr Character focuses on our core values.

We believe that by nurturing and prioritising these values within our school community we are developing a combination of transferable personal, social and emotional life skills which become the tools for leading a happy and healthy life. These values are now embedded in our school ethos and environment, emphasised both in and out of classes and celebrated weekly in our VIP Learner assemblies through Carr Character and Gold awards.
