We offer wrap-a-round care during term time 7:30am until 6:00pm. We are based in the Carr Den to the rear of the Junior School next to the swimming pool. The Carr Den offers a warm, welcoming atmosphere. At the Carr Den we believe that every child is unique in character, interests, abilities, and needs, and through feedback we aim to offer every child activities that they enjoy.

Based in a safe, inviting environment, sessions are tailored to the children, allowing them to follow their own interests whilst encouraging learning through play in a fun, stimulating way.

All our staff have thorough and up to date, relevant expertise and, in addition to regular training, each hold qualifications in:

• First Aid
• Child Protection Awareness
• Disability Awareness
• Childcare

Like all other employees and helpers at the school, we ensure all adults have obtained an Enhanced Disclosure statement from the DBS Disclosure Service before starting work.

Policies

As well as following Carr Junior School policies, we have our own policies which are adhered to at all times. Our policies can be viewed in the blue folder located outside The Den. We also have named individuals responsible for specific issues which may affect children.

Facilities

The Carr Den offers space to play freely and eat in a secure, well maintained environment. We also have access to many facilities and we regularly leave the room to enjoy play in wider areas and allow children the chance to burn off steam or to try a range of different experiences.

Currently we have:

• A range of small toys suitable for children of different ages and abilities
• Access to the generous enclosed sports field
• Scooters, trikes, go-carts, games and activities for outdoor play
• Use of the large school hall
• Cooking/baking facilities
• Arts and crafts
• TV/DVD/Video and Nintendo Wii
• Board games
• Gardening
• Lego
• Lots of dressing up clothes, role play toys and imaginative stuff!

Breakfast Club

We have 45 spaces per day and offer two options for childcare provision.

Option 1

7.30am to school start time. The children will be offered breakfast when they arrive. Fee – £4.00 per session.

Option 2

8.15am to school start time. The children arriving at this session will be offered a piece of toast on arrival. Fee – £2.00 per session.

All children will then be able to join their classes at 8:40am.

After School Club

We have 35 spaces per day.

The After School Club runs until 5.55pm. We offer a snack at 4:00pm with an alternative of cereals/toast for those that do not like the option.

Fee – £9.50 per session.

Booking

Places at the Carr Den can be booked via a booking form available through emailing CarrDen@carrjunior.southbank.academy. Adhoc bookings can be made at short notice via ParentPay. Please contact the school office for more information via admin@carrjunior.southbank.academy.
